I have a Soldier he is single, but engaged to a woman who has had his child blood test results and all , they are not married yet, he has a barracks room which we are trying to get him out of due to the fact he is living with the female and child, but am being told due to only 90% of barracks being full he cant get a CNA , and am also being told he has to have some form of proof showing that he is paying for the child. Again he is with the female that had his child, I know he has to be entitled to some form of BAH due to this. Can anyone help reference me to anything where I can again show my S-1 in writing. I have been looking and cant find anything. Your best bet is to take the Soldier to the Finance office at your installation, explain his situation and find out from them what paperwork would be sufficient for them to start paying BAH with dependents. If he didnt live with the childs mother then all he would have to get is a court document stating that he shares joint custody, has visitation rights and pays child support, then he wouldnt need a CNA to get the BAH, he would automatically would qualify to live off-post... Also, keep in mind if the childs mother is in the military, he is only entitled to BAH without dependents. I can't help with all the things he should do while he's single to get the BAH. But what he could do is get married at the court house, I know many are saving and waiting for a particular date, but you can always redo it on that day. Why not pay like the 50 bucks or whatever it is around where he's at and get his child and the childs mother benefits. I have been looking and cant find anything. Just one other thing, BAH Diff is paid by rank, not by child support amount. One other thing to check into that could get the soldier more money is to see if he has a meal card. If the soldier is living with his fiance, I would assume he does not eat in the DFAC. As such a simple 4187 signed by the soldier's company commander stating that he needs BAQ for whatever reason not enough time to utilize the dining facility would be best here IMO , would gain him the extra money for food that meal deductions takes away. Moving out of the barracks is all up to your chain of command, and housing. Unless they are legal dependents per reg you have limited options. And all soldiers need to be aware that the DEERS sytem and Finance system do not talk to each other, and just because you have dependents listed in DEERS does not mean Finance will just put them in the Finance system or pay you for them.
